Dinner time

First night eating dinner at the big table like a big boy. He seems to
like carrot, peas, corn, chicken lime sausage and beef and red wine
sausage. Hates Brussel sprouts just like daddy.

Well, there wasn't heaps of sleep last night but he's still happy in
the morning with weetbix.

Post sick

Mateo has had a pretty rough couple of days with sickness and a few
teeth at the same time. But today he is getting better and is on his
slide having a great time.

Dig?

Mateo proved helpful in the garden again today increasing his eBay
value significantly. This could be mitigated by his 'i wake up at 3am'
policy which been unpopular in the market lately.

For many decades Constable Kenny Koala has taught kids important
stuff. he took a few moments away from catching perps and dispensing
justice Kenny-style to have his pic taken with Mateo.

Fraser Primary School Fete

Mateo and I went to the fête. Here is him harassing a sheep, some
rabbits and chickens.

Flyboy

This is not a set up. I caught Mateo reading the VFR Flight Guide just
now. Admittedly sucking thumb, but clearly learning beyond most his
age. Boy genius.

Hot day

The last few days have been in the mid to 30s (C) so Mateo has been
very hot. Daddy hosed him down the backyard with Kelly and there was
much giggling.

Yoga

Mateo is showing off his mad yoga poses. This one is called 'cranky dog'

In the jungle

Mateo helped daddy a lot today in the garden.

Duck

Yesterday was a holiday so Mateo went to the lake with some friends;
Juliet, Sophie, Charlie and May. He thought feeding the ducks was
hilarious as was chasing them around the park.

Grandpa

Mateo and Grandpa walking back to the car after swimming. Mateo is
doing a lot of talking these days with '1,2,3' being a common phrase.

Liberating

Grandma and Cyrenes rocking the suburbs with a song they wrote called

Cyrene's

Grandma's choir is singing tonight for their 20th anniversary. She is
in back left. Mateo is supporting from sleepyland.

An afternoon sleeping. Weird.

Tempting though it is, I won't wake Mateo to avenge all the hundreds
of hours if sleep he has stolen from us.

Reading Programme

Mateo was worried that he was the only one who knew how to read so he
has started explaining things to Grandma.

Singing for breakfast

Mateo loves an Aussie Muppet called Ollie who sings a days of the week
song. This is Mateo half sleepy cause it's early but excited about
singing. Recently he has tried singing the Sean the Sheep song with
great success.

Sleepy bobos

After 48 hours of having a snotty nose, sneezing, coughing etc Mateo
is sleeping in. Huzzah!

Aunty Emily

Aunty Emily was sharing some strawberries with Mareo when somehow many
if them fell onto the ground. Thankfully we has a golden retriever
handy to deploy on the scene.

Breakfast

Mateo's breakfast is a moving feast in that the weetbix generally
moves rapidly across the room onto mummy and daddy. Mostly mummy. At
least he's cute while he does it.

Swimming

About to start, the little man stares coldly at the heaving swell.

Man on couch

Sometimes a man just wants to sit on the couch with the remote in one
hand and a biscuit in the other. Ah, so many fantastic hours of
sedantry in front if him.

Brunch

No better place for brunch than Debacle in Braddon. Mateo ate some
bacon, crepe, potatoe rosti, egg and toast and now is flapping a
serviette around.

On the phone

Mateo is talking to grandma and grandpa in Albuquerque right now. He
likes to press buttons on the phone while people are talking as a way
to let them know he cares.

This us where we found him today. Having fun!

Wet weather

Rain today so we had to dress up like a dinosaur. Logical, really.

Library visit

We are lucky to have a library near our house and Mateo is becoming
learned

Sleep, sweet sleep

A small ceremony was held this morning to mark Mateo's generous
decision to sleep all night. Parents have woken up confused but oddly
refreshed.

Big toast

Despite being 3cm thick, Mateo enjoyed his brunch toast with jam. Then
he stole some if mummy's crepe

Sunday morning

We just went to Trash and Treasure (our Sunday morning thing) and
clearly it was all too much. About to go and have brunch at Debacle in
Braddon with Grandma.

Long night

The boy has some kind of mild virus and possibly a tooth coming
through. On top if that, Gina has a flu if some sort (not piggy) and
has had a rough time. I've just gotten him to sleep in a triangle
pillow on his little couch. I'll sleep on the big couch next to him in
solidarity. So, hopefully, good night! See you in 3.5 hours when it
time fir wake up, breakfast, traffic and work.

Breakfast at sweethearts

Well we are at black pepper next to the lake. Mateo is considering
brunch options.

Cold Canberra

It is -1C this morning so we had to get rugged up. He slept pretty
well last night which was good because the night before was a
disaster. We had a meeting to discuss issues and action plans for the
future. Hopefully there are more bad nights behind us than ahead of
us.... Unless you count the next arrival due in Feb.

Reading Japanese book.

Mateo really loves a Japanese book I got him last year about some
animals playing hide-and-seek (かくれんぼ).

He 'reads' it often babbling as he goes but the coolest thing is that
he says the title of the book in Japanese ; だれ だ、だれ
だ。it means "who's there? Who's there?"

Super

Here we are buying bananas at Woolies. Hopefully neither one of us
will start crying before we are finished.

Breakfast

The morning after the night before. Not much sleep last night but he
is enjoying weetbix and vegemite toast. So is Kelly.

Art

Mateo's latest work called 'cop that' - a comment on the death of the
"glove-ed one", Michael Jackson.

Lunch time

Me and him are home today and lynch is proceeding well. Kelly also
agrees -given the amount of food that she receives from his very
deliberate droppings off the tray. Still, he can sort if use a spoon
on his own and it won't be long until we can release him back into the
wild to fend for himself.
